Murals are the language of the place in which we live. They tell more than books because they reflect only what is important – small stories, bright memories, and sometimes serious problems that need to be solved. Wall paintings, or murals, speak in a visual language about what people want to shout about. They give a voice to those who often cannot be heard in our cities – displaced people, people with disabilities, the elderly, and people who find themselves in difficult situations.
The murals that were not created by individual artists, but with the participation of the community – schoolchildren, students, and people who live in the area where the mural is planned – are the most important for us. They are the people who decide what exactly will be depicted, which symbols will become their narrative, and which colours will be able to tell about the past, present and future of these people.
You too can take part in a similar project, let’s join our efforts and make the dream come true!
